Metal Open Web Internal Floors.

A metal open web floor refers to a floor construction method that utilizes metal open web joists or trusses. This design allows for efficient routing of services and provides cost savings, ease of installation, and design flexibility.   https://sipbuilduk.co.uk/sip-flooring/

Cantilever Steel Beams.

Cantilever beams are often used to create overhanging structures without requiring additional supports or bracing2. The specific design and implementation of cantilever steel beams in a SIP build may vary depending on the project requirements and structural considerations.  https://sipbuilduk.co.uk/sip-flooring/

TF200

TF200 is a breather membrane product offered by the company Glidevale Protect. It is a high-performance membrane meant for safeguarding external walls including roof while construction is happening.

The costs provided are totally indicative and should be used informatively and not part of any detailed budgeting process. How long is a piece of string comes to mind!!! https://sipbuilduk.co.uk/sip-cost/

We do hope however that this helps to provide a picture of what can be achieved with our structures within different budget ranges.

Dan was looking for a unique and highly energy efficient home. Having found his plot he was able to develop a truly exciting and different design. Not wanting the standard boxes that many live in he wanted open plan and vaulted ceilings.

Light and open space was his driver for a truly modern and striking house.

At ground floor level a totally open kitchen, living and dining area adjoining a sun room with views over the rolling hills. A central fire and flu system set of this area with a central focal point. The sunroom having bi-fold doors to 2 sides allow further access to the garden.

Add to this a study and full shower facility which could be used as a separate living accommodation should the need in older age ever arise.

Upstairs sees 5 good size bedrooms (3 en-suite) with an open landing stairwell area. To the master bedroom a balcony overlooking the fields and the garden.

By using 172mm SIP panel for both the walls and the roof a thermally efficient airtight unit was created.

Externally a combination of brickwork, render and timber style cladding was used to make a truly contemporary design.

The use of 172mm SIP panels to the walls and roof allowed the flexibility of external finishes. No need for tricky blockwork above openings that had no structure beneath. The open plan design of the house made the structure a challenge. Use of open metal web floor joists to allow the MVHR to efficiently run through the floor zones. Several cantilever steel beams where also utilised in the floor zone allowing the SIPs to maintain and create an airtight box whilst the open plan nature of the building was overcome through clever engineering. The SIPs roof and structure allowed for vaulted ceilings and the feel of even more space was created. The build took place through one of the worst periods of weather we have had and the timeframe and program on site where adhered to allowing for Dan’s follow on trades to arrive on the site when scheduled. All in all a truly unique and structurally clever house was designed, engineered and constructed. Dan will have many years in the property with low energy bills and an open space living that is very much on trend.

“The whole process from SIP Build was easy, there quality and reliability turning up when they said they would made it easier to get the other trades to site. Nothing was to much trouble and even when things didn’t go to plan they sorted the solution and it was a real pleasure. Tim, Andy and the lads on site made this a very easy project for me”!
