Protect
A frequently used type of timber flooring is the 22-millimeter tongue-and-groove chipboard, also known as P5 grade. This structural timber board is popular with builders and contractors due to its ability to withstand exposure to moisture. The 22mm thick chipboard flooring, with its tongue-and-groove edges, is commonly installed as a floor surface.

When a 1920’s brick house on a site that sloped down to the River Nidd in Knaresborough came up for sale, one of the locals moved a step closer to his dream of creating a Georgian style ‘gentleman’s residence’.
Working with PA Design, also based in the town, the pair planned a stunning six bedroom property which took advantage of the surrounding views. What could have been seen as a challenge became a key feature as the slope on the land was incorporated into the home’s overall design and helped create a two storey property which expanded to three at the rear.
Early in the project they chose Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) as their preferred build method because a watertight structure could be constructed quickly, drastically reducing the time on site by around a third.
The design included a basement level swimming pool, games room, additional garages and a bar looking from the back stone portico terrace down to the River Nidd.
The ground level includes a large open plan kitchen and family day room, a library, formal dining room, sitting room, living room, utility room, butler’s pantry and a study which can also be used as the sixth bedroom. The upper floor houses the master suite and a further four double bedrooms.
