SIP Build UK Shortlisted for Constructing Excellence Yorkshire & Humber Awards 2026

SIP Build UK has been shortlisted for two categories at the Constructing Excellence Yorkshire & Humber Awards 2026: Sustainability and SME of the Year.

The Constructing Excellence awards recognise organisations delivering measurable improvements across sustainability, performance, people and best practice in the built environment.

The Sustainability entry reflects SIP Build UK’s fabric-first approach to building design, using structural insulated panel (SIP) systems to embed thermal performance directly into the building envelope. Across projects in Yorkshire & Humber, this approach has delivered U-values as low as 0.15 W/m²K, near Passive affordable housing, and BREEAM Excellent institutional buildings — alongside reduced waste, fewer deliveries and faster progression to weathertight stage through offsite manufacture.

The SME of the Year shortlist recognises the continued growth and development of the business, including expansion of the Normanton manufacturing facility and a team now up to 23 employees. Investment in people, apprenticeships, Mental Health First Aiders and quality systems sits alongside a coordinated delivery model spanning design, engineering, manufacture, supply and installation.

These entries are based on a range of projects across Yorkshire & Humber, demonstrating consistent delivery, predictable outcomes and long-term performance through early design coordination and offsite construction.

The first quarter of the year has tested sites with harsh winter conditions — but it hasn’t stopped progress. When the majority of the work is completed upfront offsite, delivery becomes far less dependent on the weather.

As those projects take shape, it’s a good time to step back and look at the bigger picture — what SIP buildings look like once complete, how quickly they were delivered, and how they perform in use.

Maintaining Standards: Annual Assessments Successfully Passed

We’re pleased to confirm that SIP Build UK has successfully passed its annual assessments, maintaining the standards that underpin how we deliver on site.

This includes the continued renewal and maintenance of:

STA Assure accreditation
CHAS certification
SMAS certification
ISO standards

These assessments are an important part of ensuring consistency across our design, manufacturing and installation processes.

They provide reassurance that the systems and procedures behind each project are regularly reviewed, independently assessed, and maintained to the required standards.

Alongside this, we continue to utilise BBA-certified SIP panels, supplied through our strategic partner, SIP Building Systems (SBS).

For us, this isn’t about accreditation for its own sake.
It’s about maintaining a consistent, reliable approach to delivery — from early design through to a completed, weathertight building envelope.

The renewal follows a full desktop audit of our health and safety management systems and confirms our ongoing compliance with SSIP Core Criteria and UK Health & Safety legislation.

This certification is awarded to Clad Build UK Ltd t/a SIP Build UK and demonstrates that our processes, documentation, and site practices continue to meet the required national standards for contractor assurance.

What SMAS Worksafe Certification Means for Our Clients

SMAS Worksafe is one of the UK’s leading SSIP-recognised accreditation schemes. For our clients — including developers, contractors, local authorities, and public-sector bodies — this provides independent confirmation that:

SIP Build UK has been shortlisted in the “Best SIPs Home” category at the Build It Awards 2025 for our Stotfold Crest Stables project in Hartlepool.

The awards celebrate innovation, performance and excellence across the self-build and custom home industry — and this shortlisting recognises how certified SIP systems are helping homeowners achieve faster, greener, and future-ready builds.

About the Project

Stotfold Crest Stables is a three-storey, four-bedroom family home built within the working grounds of a busy equestrian centre in Hartlepool. Designed by Architectural Design Ltd and delivered by SIP Build UK, the home uses our Gold Assured, BBA-approved SIP system to deliver high performance and precise construction with minimal site disruption.

Our scope included the full superstructure — SIP walls, internal walls, intermediate floors, attic truss, and supporting steel and glulam structure — providing the client with a single point of contact for the entire SIP installation.

The results speak for themselves:

A+ SAP Rating
U-value of 0.15 W/m²K with no additional insulation
Zero heating bills, with the GSHP and solar array returning approximately £900 per quarter in energy credit
Stable internal temperatures year-round, without mechanical cooling
65% lower operational carbon footprint compared with a typical UK detached home

Now fully occupied, the house has a year of post-occupancy data proving that modern SIP construction delivers comfort, performance and sustainability beyond regulation.

A Benchmark for Future Homes

This project demonstrates how SIP Build UK’s off-site manufactured systems are already exceeding 2025 Future Homes Standard requirements, requiring no retrofit to achieve 2050 net-zero goals.

Beth is back at SIP Build UK—and moving into estimating. She first joined us in June 2023 as an Internal Sales Executive, supporting both SIPs and pre-insulated timber frame systems. After welcoming her first child in October 2024, she’s returned with the same sharp eye for detail and a new focus: accurate, buildable, value-engineered estimates.

We’re delighted to announce that SIP Build UK has been shortlisted for the Custom & Self-Build Project of the Year category at the Structural Timber Awards 2025 for our work on The Gables.

The awards celebrate the best of timber construction across the UK, recognising innovation, sustainability, and design excellence. Winners will be announced on 1st October 2025 at the industry’s annual awards ceremony.

About The Gables

The Gables is a striking example of what structural insulated panel (SIP) construction can achieve. Built to meet the client’s aesthetic, thermal, and sustainability goals, it features:

Vaulted ceilings and a dramatic open stairwell for an airy, open feel.
Large glazed areas to maximise daylight and showcase views.
175mm SIPs delivering U-values of 0.15 without additional insulation.

Glulam beams integrated for both strength and visual warmth.

Rapid Build on a Tight Site

The home was built on a tight-access site next to a busy school—requiring careful planning and efficient logistics. Using small HIAB-offload vehicles and just-in-time panel deliveries, we kept the site organised, reduced traffic disruption, and ensured smooth progress.

Both the main house and annex (above a large garage) were installed in just 11 weeks, enabling follow-on trades to start earlier and helping to compress the overall build schedule.

Fabric-First Performance and Sustainability

The Gables was designed with a fabric-first approach, delivering high thermal efficiency straight from the building envelope.

Key sustainability and performance highlights include:

Part O compliance and TM59 modelling carried out early in design.
MVHR and underfloor heating working efficiently with the SIP structure.
Responsibly sourced PEFC/FSC-certified timber.
Low embodied carbon and minimal construction waste.

This approach not only reduced environmental impact but also ensured long-term comfort and low running costs for the homeowners.

A Collaborative Project

From concept to completion, the project was a team effort between the architect, main contractor, and SIP Build UK.

By taking full responsibility for design, engineering, and installation—including steels, Glulam beams, intermediate floors, and internal walls—we reduced risk, improved accuracy, and delivered a seamless, on-time result.

Farewell to James – SIP Build UK Celebrates His New First Aid Adventure

We’ve got some exciting – and slightly bittersweet – news to share.

After more than six brilliant years at SIP Build UK, James has officially left the building! From starting as a factory operator, he quickly made his mark across the estimating department and internal sales. Always the first to jump in, lend a hand, crack a joke, or make a coffee (or five), James became an integral part of the team — and a familiar voice to many of our customers.

Now, he’s swapping SIPs for sirens, site visits for stretchers…
Introducing JAS First Aid Training & Event Medical Services

That’s right — James is turning his long-time side hustle into a full-time mission, launching his own business delivering first aid training and event medical cover across the UK.

We’re proud. We’re a little emotional. And we’re seriously excited to see what he does next.

From all of us at SIP Build UK — and from every client he’s supported — thank you, James, for everything: your energy, your humour, your dedication, and yes… the stories you told about your wild weekends as a medic. You’ve left your mark, and we’ll be raising a coffee in your honour.

This is something I’ve been passionate about for years — and now it’s time to take the leap. I’ll be offering sports and workplace first aid courses, as well as medical support at events around the country. Thank you to everyone who’s supported me along the way!
